Easy Homemade Spanish Rice Recipe

How To Make The Easiest Homemade Spanish Rice Recipe:

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup white rice
  • 1 cup chicken broth or stock
  • 1 cup tomato sauce or puree
  • 1/4 cup diced fresh tomatoes, seeded & drained (optional)
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 1 tbsp extra-virgin olive oil
  • 1 1/2 tsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1/2 tsp garlic salt
  • 1/2 tsp dried oregano

Instructions:

Start by adding the olive oil and melting the butter in a medium-sized saucepan set over medium heat.

Next, stir in rice and mix it well with butter and oil. 

Stir frequently for 2-3 minutes until the rice has toasted.

Incorporate the chicken broth, tomato sauce, chili powder, cumin powder, garlic salt, oregano along with diced tomatoes (if you are using them).

Now, increase the heat to high and bring the mixture to a boil while still stirring it every once in a while.

Mix thoroughly, turn down the temperature to low, then put the lid over the pot then cook on a low simmering for about 20 mins.

If rice is not tender or the liquid hasn’t been absorbed after 20 minutes, replace the lid and cook for 2 to 4 minutes longer.

After that, remove from heat, leave covered, and allow to rest for a few minutes.

Finally, fluff rice with a fork and serve with your favorite entree.
