Healthy Grilled Pineapple Chicken Recipe

This recipe is made with a simple homemade marinade, it’s incredibly mouth-watering and it’s also a great crowd-pleaser that’s made with fresh, healthy, and simple ingredients. This recipe for healthy grilled pineapple chicken is perfect for the summer, especially if you are having a picnic or a little get-together with your family or friends.

Despite this recipe being incredibly healthy and tasty, it’s also very easy to make, you simply take the chicken breasts and grill them until they are nice and juicy.

Guide on making the healthiest grilled pineapple chicken recipe:


  • 8 oz. pineapple rings can (reserve the juice from the can)
  • 4 boneless skinless chicken breasts
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 cup low sodium soy sauce
  • 1/2 tsp ginger powder
  • 1/8 tsp ground black pepper


Start by mixing all the ingredients together (except the pineapple rings and chicken breasts) in a large Ziploc bag. (mix the brown sugar, drained pineapple juice, garlic powder, soy sauce, ginger powder, and black pepper.)

Next, using your hands, smash the Ziploc bag so that the brown sugar dissolves. Then, reserve 1/2 cup of the marinade and pineapple rings.

Now, place the chicken breasts into the marinade and squeeze out any air before sealing the Ziploc bag. Then place the chicken breasts in the refrigerator and leave them overnight.

After that, preheat the grill to 350 °F and rub the grates with oil.

Once the chicken has finished marinating, take it out of the Ziploc bag and shake off any excess marinade. Place the chicken on the grill and grill it for 5-8 minutes per side.

Brush with the reserved 1/2 cup of marinade multiple times while grilling.

While the chicken is grilling add the pineapple to the grill and cook for 2-3 minutes per side. 

Once the pineapple slices have grill marks remove them from the grill.

Finally, remove the chicken breasts from the grill and top with the pineapple slices.

Serve warm and enjoy!
