Not only is this recipe packed with so many flavors and spices, but it’s also easy to make, has a lot of proteins, and doesn’t take a lot of time to prepare.
Spices have been an important part of seasoning in foods and this dish is no exception. This dish is basically thin crispy crepes, but with a lot more flavors than your normal ones.
Instructions on making moong dal dosa:
- 2/3 cup Yellow Moong Dal
- 3 red dry chili (or green chlili)
- 3 tbsp Flattened Rice
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- 1 tsp dry fenugreek seeds
- 1/2 tsp asafoetida
- 1/2 tsp dry ginger powder (you could also use crushed ginger)
Start by adding the moong dal, flattened rice, and fenugreek seeds in a medium-sized bowl. Then fill the bowl with enough water so that the ingredients can soak in them. Soak the ingredients for at least 2 hours.
After 2 hours have passed, drain the bowl removing all the water, and put the ingredients in a blender. Then add the red dry chili, asafoetida, dry ginger powder, and cumin seeds.
Next, blend the ingredients until the mixture is smooth and resembles a batter. Then take the batter out of the blender jar and add salt to your preferred taste. Mix the batter well.
Now, heat a pan on medium heat, and once the pan is hot, pour a ladle full of batter. Rotate the pan so the batter spreads evenly across the pan. If you want them to be extra crispy add a little bit of oil around the edges. Cook until the edges are crispy, then flip to the other side and cook for an additional few seconds.
Serve hot with your preferred side-dish and enjoy!
