Following this recipe, you’ll end up with the tastiest lemon butter cod. This dish is made with the flakiest
cod fish, fresh lemon, butter, and seasonings for extra flavor.
Cod is one of the easiest fish to cook and there are a lot of methods to cook it. We’re gonna be using the
pan-seared method for this recipe. You could also bake it, grill it or even smoke it. The reason we are
using the pan-seared method is to get that light brown color. As a big plus, this recipe takes only 25 minutes!
Here’s how to prepare the flakiest cod fish:
4 (6 oz. each) cod fillets (skinless, about 1-inch thick)
1/2 tsp onion powder
1/2 tsp paprika
1/4 tsp dried oregano
1/4 tsp dried thyme
1/8 tsp cayenne pepper
3/4 tsp salt
3/4 tsp freshly ground black pepper
5 tbsp Danish Creamery Butter (cut into 1 Tbsp pieces, divided)
1 tbsp all-purpose flour
1 1/2 tbsp low-sodium chicken broth
1 1/2 tbsp fresh lemon juice
1 tbsp fresh parsley (chopped)
1 tbsp minced garlic
1 tbsp olive oil
Start by whisking together the flour, onion powder, paprika, oregano, cayenne pepper, thyme, salt, and pepper in a small bowl.
Then spread the mixture from the small bowl onto both sides of the fillets.
After that, in a skillet placed over medium-high heat add the 1 tbsp. of olive oil and melt the 1 tbsp. of butter.
Next, add the cod to the skillet and sear it on both sides for 3-4 minutes, or until golden brown. This should take
approximately 4 minutes.
Once the cod has finished cooking transfer it onto serving plates.
Now, reduce the heat to medium low and melt the rest of the butter.
Then add the garlic and sauté it for approximately 15 seconds until fragrant.
Next, remove the mixture from the heat and stir in the chicken broth together with the lemon juice.
Finally, pour the sauce over the cod fillets. If desired add some chopped fresh parsley and serve warm.
