You can use this recipe for other things, not just for making pizza, for example you can make calzones, breadsticks, garlic knots, Stromboli and many other things if you just get creative.

Step-by-step guide on making the best pizza dough:

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups warm water
  • 2 packets active dry yeast (1/4 ounce each)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons granulated sugar
  • 5 tbsp extra virgin olive oil

In a large bowl pour the warm water, add the active dry yeast and let it sit for 5 minutes until foamy. Add the sugar, oil, and salt to the mixture, and stir them together. Then add the flour, and mix until a sticky dough forms.

Using olive oil, lightly brush another large bowl. Place the dough inside the large bowl and drizzle a little olive oil on top of the dough. Cover the large bowl with plastic wrap, set aside in a warm draft-free area, and let it rise until doubled in size, approximately for about an hour.

After the dough has doubled in size, place it on a lightly floured surface and gently knead 1 or 2 times, forming it into a round circle. Let the dough rest for about 10 more minutes before using, or storing it.
