How to make the best Texas roadhouse rolls:
For the rolls:
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 1/4 cup Milk
- 1/4 cup honey
- 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
- 1 tsp salt
- 4 tbsp melted butter
- 1 egg
For the cinnamon honey butter:
- 1 stick unsalted butter
- 1/4 cup honey
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar
- 1 tsp cinnamon
Start by bringing the milk to a boil. Then remove it from the heat when it starts bubbling and let it reduce to around 85 °F.
In a large bowl combine the 2 cups of flour, 3 tbsp of butter, milk mixture, and egg. Mix slowly by hand or use a mixer with a dough hook. Slowly add the rest of the flour while mixing and wait until a dough forms. Then add salt and work the dough for an additional 8 minutes. After that knead the dough for a few more minutes on a floured surface.
Lightly grease a large bowl with cooking spray or olive oil, and drop the dough inside. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap or a clean cloth, and let the dough rise for an hour. Punch down the dough and turn it onto a floured surface. Then fold it in half and gently seal.
Cut the dough into 24 evenly sized squares and place them on 2 lightly greased baking sheets. Cover them again with a clean cloth and wait until they’ve doubled in size, which should take approximately 35 minutes.
Preheat your oven to 350 °F, and bake the rolls for 12-15 minutes or until their tops have a golden brown color. Melt the remaining butter and brush their tops when they’ve finished baking.
While the rolls are still in the oven baking, prepare the cinnamon honey butter by whisking all the ingredients together. Then serve the Texas roadhouse rolls with the cinnamon honey butter and enjoy.
