This recipe is the easiest one you can find for the best sourdough flatbread. It only requires 6 ingredients, 1 pan, and 1 bowl. Yes, it’s that quick and easy. You don’t have to spend the whole day in your sink washing the dishes.
Not only is this sourdough flatbread easy and quick to make, but it also tastes heavenly. As a plus, this recipe doesn’t require any yeast.
How to make the best sourdough flatbread:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup sourdough discard
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp kosher salt
Start by mixing the flour, baking powder, and salt in a medium-sized bowl. After that, add the milk, olive oil, and sourdough discard. Using a wooden spoon stir the mixture.
Now, it’s time to knead the dough. Place the dough onto a well-floured surface and knead the dough until it’s no longer sticky, which should take a few minutes.
Next, cover the dough in plastic wrap or with a clean cloth and let it rest for atleast 30 minutes, or until doubled in size. The longer the dough rests the better it tastes.
Once the dough has finally rested, divide it into 6 equal pieces. Then roll each piece into a disk using a rolling pin. Each disc should be around 1/4 thick.
Finally it’s time to cook the sourdough flatbread. Start by brushing the bottom of the flatbread with olive oil. Then place it onto a hot skillet. Cook for approximately 80-100 seconds, or until the flatbread looks bubbly, that’s when you’ll know that it’s finished.
After that, brush the top with olive oil, flip, and cook for an additional 50-70 seconds. After cooking place the flatbread on a plate and cover it with a clean cloth to keep them warm. Repeat this process with every sourdough flatbread. Enjoy!
