How To Make Soft and Buttery Dinner Rolls:

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 tbsp melted butter (a bit extra for brushing on top)
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 1 tbsp active-dry yeast
  • 1 tsp fine sea salt

Start by preheating your oven to 400°F. Then grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with cooking spray.

Next, in a microwave-safe bowl combine the water and 2 tbsp of melted butter. Then stir in the milk and honey.

Now microwave the mixture for a minute and give it a nice stir. After that, place it back into the microwave for another 15 seconds or until the temperature reaches 110 °F and the butter has completely melted.

Then pour the melted butter mixture into the large bowl of a stand mixer. Sprinkle the yeast evenly on the top, give the mixture a quick stir, and let the yeast activate for about 5 minutes or until it’s foamy.

After that, add 3 1/2 cups of flour and salt to the mixture.

Now use the dough hook and turn the stand mixer on medium-low speed. If the dough is sticking to the sides add the rest of the flour.

Next, lower the speed to low and continue mixing for another 5 minutes or until the dough is smooth.

Using your hands, form the dough into a ball and transfer it to a greased bowl. Cover the bowl with a damp towel and let it rise for about 15 minutes.

Once the dough has risen, gently punch the dough down and divide it into 15 equal pieces. Then form each piece into a ball and place the dough balls on the greased baking dish.

Now cover the dish again using a damp towel and let the dough balls rise for another 15 to 20 minutes.

Finally, uncover the dish and bake the dough balls for 15 minutes, or until the rolls are lightly golden brown on top and cooked through. Then carefully transfer the rolls onto a cooling rack and brush them with some additional butter.

Serve while the rolls are still warm and enjoy!
